Welcome to Rock Branch Retrievers! These are exciting times for us with a new home and a few new dogs! We have recently relocated to approximately 10.33 acres in beautiful Southwestern Montana. Although Rock Branch Retrievers was established in 2011, we have enjoyed successfully raising and training top quality dogs and horses in Central Florida since approximately 1998. We have been actively involved in training and competing with Labrador Retrievers since 2008 when we acquired our first Lab, “Sunny.” Kevin successfully trained and handled Sunny to achieve her SHR title in 2010.
In 2011, we decided we wanted to become more involved in AKC and HRC hunt test competition and we acquired our 3 young rockstars, Jo, Tucker, and Maddie. With the professional assistance and guidance of George Henry at Timber Creek Retrievers in Tennessee, among others, along with consistently working and training with our dogs, we were successful in achieving our goal of SHR titles and JH titles on all 3 dogs during the 2012/2013 hunt test season in Florida. Many of our dogs also went on to achieve more advanced titles in the hunt test world thru 2018. We even dabbled in the field trial world for a couple of years with Topline Retrievers providing expert training and handling for our dogs (Thank you, Colby Williams and Marc Patton – Green River Retrievers!).
Our retrievers all have excellent pedigrees along with strong drive and retrieving desire. They are an absolute pleasure to work with and train, and they are wonderful companions at home. They are all an important part of our daily lives and we love watching the young ones grow and succeed.
Since our cross country move from Florida to the beautiful small town of Dillon Montana, our focus has shifted slightly. We are now more focused on actual upland bird hunting, whenever possible with our dogs, and as time allows, we will participate in training and competing in local hunt tests from time to time. Some of our young dogs will spend a summer with Marc Patton at Green River Retrievers in Wyoming for some basic foundational retriever training.
